Robert Stone’s story was defined by resilience, ambition, and an extraordinary willingness to keep rebuilding. Born in London, Ontario, in 1967, he grew up with a love for sports, hard work, and creating things with his hands qualities encouraged by his grandfather, one of the most important mentors in his life. His path took him from hockey, football, and an extensive boxing career to working in the trades and eventually starting his first construction business.
After a devastating accident in which he broke his neck, Robert was forced to leave physical work behind and begin again, teaching himself the skills needed to enter accounting and the financial industry. What could have ended one chapter of his life instead became the beginning of another.
As Robert built his new career, his greatest motivation became his family. While raising three children, he continued developing himself professionally and personally, eventually taking the risk of founding MrTaxes.ca in 2008. He completed his high school diploma through night school, became deeply involved with Toastmasters, and continued building the entrepreneurial skills that would shape his future.
Along the way, he met Michelle, whom he married in 2016. Together, they blended their families and expanded Robert’s vision beyond tax and accounting, eventually establishing MrInsurance.ca. Through years of long hours, personal sacrifice, and persistent growth, Robert built more than a group of businesses he created a legacy centered on serving clients, providing for his family, and helping the people around him achieve more.
Behind Robert’s energy and determination was a long struggle with the physical effects of his injuries, followed later by a battle with esophageal cancer. Even through the most difficult period of his life, he remained focused on his family, his companies, and the future of the people who depended on him.
Robert passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, surrounded by his family after months of fighting the disease. This compilation brings together the memories, milestones, humour, challenges, and achievements shared throughout this series to celebrate the full life behind the name. Robert was remembered as an energetic storyteller, problem-solver, mentor, husband, father, entrepreneur, and friend who constantly pushed others to reach their potential.
His influence continues through his family, his team, the businesses he built, and the many people whose lives were changed by knowing him.
